Organise Your Holiday - Disney Trip Planning: Part 1

By Claire

Planning a Disney trip is no quick task, even for those who are not as particular as I am! There are travel options, hotels, meal plans, transfers, dinner shows, character meet and greets, rides, shows and so many more things to consider! So one at a time...

DISNEY HOTELS

The easiest way to check our the Disney hotels in to pop over to their official website. This will provide information and a few pictures of each hotel. It will also give you a good idea of pricing for the dates you would like. There are 8 official Disney Accommodations;

***The Disneyland Hotel***

This is the big one! The one which fairytale dreams are made of. It is the huge pink hotel which is right at the park gates (handy for less walking!) I expect every little princess wants to stay here when they look in the brochures. The Hotel comes with four poster beds, 2 restaurants, a lounge bar, a swimming pool, jacuzzi and steam bath, a fitness centre and amazing views of the main Disneyland Park.

For me personally, it is a little too fancy. I am sure when I was little this would have been the hotel of my dreams but since I have got older I have moved away from the 'finer' things and I tend to choose what really makes me feel happy.

***Hotel New York***

This is No.2 in the ranks at Disneyland Paris. This hotel is about as BIG APPLE as you can get. A huge skyline type building resembling something you would see in Manhattan. There is a yellow taxi photo shoot area as well as a huge conference centre. The rooms have fantastic New York theming and you will also find a swimming pool, 2 restaurants and an ice rink outside during the winter months! The Hotel New york is currently under renovation and will be re-themed to include The Art of MARVEL and will re-open in Summer 2020. Again, neither New York or Marvel are really my cup of tea.

***Newport Bay Hotel***

A wonderful Nautical, fresh, clean feel is what to expect at The Newport Bay Hotel. A beautiful building sat at the waterside of Lake Disney. The hotel offers large, fresh rooms, two restaurants, a swimming pool, a sauna and steam bath and a fitness studio. The parks are a 10-15 min walk around the gorgeous lake or you can hop on one of the free, regular shuttle buses.

***Sequoia Lodge***

Huge trees, woodland feel, grand open fire, forest themed...now we are talking! This hotel is right up my street. The rooms are bambi themed and although some feel that this hotel is not 'Disney enough', it provides a perfect, subtle theming amongst a real rugged, forestry with beautifully piped music through the hotel giving a real feeling of nature. The hotel also offers two restaurants, a swimming pool, jacuzzi, lounge bar and a fitness centre.

***Hotel Cheyenne***

Howdy Partner! This hotel is wild west themed and looks just the part for a gunfire showdown! If cowboys are your thing then this is the place for you! It is one of the value hotels so generally comes up a little cheaper. The hotel offers a restaurant, a bar, a children's indoor play area, free parking and even pony rides! (Chargeable). The hotel is around a 20 min walk to the parks but there is a free shuttle bus.

***Hotel Santa Fe***

I am speed, I am lightening!

The Santa Fe is themed around Route 66 which is featured in the wonderful film CARS. If Lightning McQueen and Mater are your faves then this hotel is for you. Another of the value hotels, you can expect a slightly cheaper rate here. The hotel offers a buffet restaurant, a bar, a children's play area and free parking. Again, this is around a 20 min walk to the parks but there is a free shuttle bus.

***Les Villages Nature Paris***

Centreparcs at Disneyland!

I am so excited that this place has opened! Possibly two of my favourite things in one. The complex is not on the Disney site itself but is not too far away and according to reviews I have read, it takes longer to drive out of the driveway than it does to drive to Disney itself! There is a bus that will take you, albeit for a small charge, straight to the parks. Set in beautiful natural surroundings, this site has 5 main attractions:

1. Aqualagon - A wonderful water park with indoor and outdoor pools and slides.

2. Lakeside Promenade - Welcome Centre, restaurants, bars, entertainment and a supermarket!

3. Extraordinary Gardens - Earth, Fire, Water and Air themed gardens!

4. BelleVie Farm - A wonderful little animal farm with workshops, playgrounds and a huge greenhouse

5. Forest of Legends - An incredible outdoor Play Area!

You can hire bikes or an electric buggy to get you around the complex or you can take the regular minibus which will escort you around. A wonderful place to stay...even if you are not visiting Disney!!!

***Davy Crockett Ranch***

Disney's original version of self-catering.

This accommodation is also set off of the disney site and you will need your own car as there are no transfer options to the park. The cabins are woodland themed and come with a fully equipped kitchen and an outside BBQ and table on the patio. This hotel also offers a swimming pool, mini golf (chargeable), tennis courts and outdoor adventure playgrounds. I really like this option but I am not a fan of driving when on holiday. Otherwise I would likely stay here!

OUR DECISION

Since it offers everything we love, we have decided to stay at Les Villages Nature Paris for our Christmas Trip. I have looked at all of the option of where and how to book and we will be booking the accommodation and park tickets seperately. This works better for us but as with all things Disney, it really does depend of your personal circumstances.

Which hotel would be your favourite? Get in touch and let me know! I would also love to know if you have stayed at Les Villages Nature Paris! What was it like?

Until the next instalment...
