Organise Your Mind

Updated: Mar 7, 2019

Organise your mind – 5 tips on how to be more mindful on a daily basis

1. Focus on one task at a time.

I know this can be hard, but just by focusing on one thing you allow yourself the time to think the task through and be much more aware of what you are doing and why you are doing it. You can analyse your tasks and become more productive in completing them. Are there things that could be done differently to make the task in hand run more smoothly, or complete it quicker.

2. Breathe

Basic breathing exercises are a great way of using any free time to become more mindful and allow your body to fully relax. Personally, I remain a huge fan of box breathing (breathe in for 5, hold for 5, breathe out for 5, hold for 5). If you can’t manage 5, then start with 3 and work your way up. This simple method allows you to slow your breathing down and completely clear your mind helping you fully relax

3. Listen to your body

Your body really does know what it is talking about! Take the time to listen to it more often. When you have an ache, then rest or massage the ache. If you feel thirsty, stop and have a drink. Your body will function better if you listen to it and you will feel better for it over all

4. Start your day with meditation

This is a task I have struggled to fully implement myself until recently. And now I couldn’t start my day any other way! When my alarm goes off in the morning, I reach for my headphones and my phone. I set up my Insight timer app for a simple meditation to match the mood I have woken up in, and complete my meditation sitting up in bed. Doing it this way really does set me up for the day, clearing my mind and allowing me to feel so much more refreshed on waking up!

5. End your day with gratitude

Thinking of 3 simple things that have gone well each day helps me fall asleep more grateful and less stressed. It doesn’t matter how bad the day may have gone, this exercise turns my focus onto something happy and makes me smile.
