The Diary of a Happiness Coach - 14/03/2022

I have been thinking some deep thoughts this morning. I made myself a cup of earl grey and whilst waiting for the kettle to boil I admired the sun rays coming through the window, the first buds appearing on the plants in the garden, the birdsong and the flowers that I have on display by the window

NOTE TO SELF - Must remember to buy new flowers each week as they are looking tired!

Deep thoughts

I was thinking about what unhappiness looks like. Leaving to one side grief, loss, depression (which is a medical condition),heartbreak and the things that other people control. Plain and simple things that make us feel unhappy with one's self...

My mind took me to the word 'Regret' - does most of our happiness stem from some form of regret?

For example, Do you regret not waking up earlier today and making the most of the bright, sunny morning. Do you regret not doing the washing up last night? Do you regret not sticking to the diet that you started on 1st January? Do you regret not saying the words you wish you had said to that particular person when you should have?

The annoying thing with regret is that we cannot change the past, it is done, gone.

However, the beauty of this life is that we CAN change what happens next. We can choose to make a change today, right now. Instead of feeling sad that you missed extra time this morning, enjoy the day starting from now. Get those dishes done before you go to work - you will only regret it again later if you don't. Start the diet again today - better late than never! Have that conversation with the person! Tell them how you feel...honesty is always the best policy!

So my tea is about drinkable now and I am about to demolish the overnight oats I made myself last night (no regrets there!!) so I will leave you with this....

Stop regretting - Start living!
