The first day of the year 2.0

Today is the day it all starts again for people across the earth. The first Monday of the new year. But why does today have significance? It is 6 days into January?


Our human brains, in general, like things to be neat, orderly and tidy. We have been programmed over the years to believe that Monday is the start of the week. This has led to millions of people always waiting for a Monday to start anything new, at the beginning of the week. How many times have you started a new diet or fitness program and always waited until a Monday to begin? I am guilty of this in the past too.


But whoops, Tuesday comes around and it's someone's birthday, so you have just one piece of cake. Or Thursdays workload runs over, your child has a fever and you realise you haven't got anything in for dinner, then the gym session goes out of the window. There are countless numbers of reasons why we fall off the wagon. But why do we wait until Monday to get back on? We should eat the cake, absolutely, then get straight back on the horse, then it's just a piece of cake. The Thursday from hell should be faced with a very quick and simple meal (we always have 'something' we can knock together) followed by a 5 minute home workout. It is all about choices. That way, we won't do days and days of additional damage to our mental health that will take so much extra effort to fix next week. Just thing of how many additional days of 'damage' you have done to yourself by waiting until the next Monday to start!


So tip of the day.....GET BACK ON THE HORSE!
